Green Flash Comics was founded by Cary Peterson. Cary is a Chef and Restaurateur by trade but has collected sports cards since he was a boy, growing up in North Lake Tahoe, California. After visiting Dodger Stadium for game six of the 1978, Dodger – Yankee, World Series, he was hooked and loved baseball. Much of his personal collection reflects those great teams of Lasorda and Martin.
Lake Tahoe in the 70’s had a pretty limited TV line up, but a station out of the California Bay Area was available and played Adam West’s Batman daily after school, when there wasn’t baseball, football or skiing practice, Cary would rush home to see how Batman & Robin were going to survive the latest buzz saw contraption that Caesar Romero’s Joker had them strapped and left for dead. This pretty much cemented the love for comics and the “Cliffhanger” for Cary.
The Mythical “Green Flash”
Cary’s father-in-law used to say “There goes today”, as the sun would set and the sky would light for the Southern California sunset. In that same time one might be lucky enough to witness the mythical “Green Flash”, for Cary it signifies the beginning of the next day.
After 30+ years of restaurants, kitchens and an aching shoulder, Cary knew it was time to look to the next day and decided to turn his love of cards, comics and old signs into his next business venture.
